Happy New Year! At KGC, we entered the New Year on a Prophetic High as God gave us a prophecy for 2010, as our Year of Prophetic Manifestation.
Beloved, God spoke to us from Ezekiel 12:21-28 after initially challenging our faith from 2 Chronicles 20:20 and Amos 3:7 to believe the prophetic word. For us to experience God’s Prophetic Manifestation we learnt four things that God would do for us in 2010 from 1 Peter 5:8-11 and they are:
1. God will perfect (mature) us
2. God will establish (position, prepare and make ready) us
3. Strengthen (support, edify, toughen) us
4. Settle (pay what is owed) us
For the complete teaching, please listen to the podcast of the message on our website, see link below:
Happy New Year! 2010 is your Year of Prophetic Manifestation!
I thought there couldn’t possibly be anything comparable to the revelation that greeted us when Josef Fritzl was exposed, but I have been proved wrong. Last week, Jaycee Lee Dugard, who went missing 18 years ago was found alive and well but what were her whereabouts these 18 years she’s been missing? Jaycee, a young innocent girl was abducted at the age of 11 and was held as a sex slave for 18 years. She was forced to have two children with her alleged child sex offender abductor, Phillip Garrido. Her daughters, now aged 11 and 15, have never been to school or seen a doctor. Like Josef Fritzl, Phillip Garido is a clear global reminder of the danger that the innocent face as a result of the forces of evil at work in the earth. Man was not supposed to have dominion over man. There is no justification of any kind for enslaving another human being. How Jaycee coped for these 18 years only God knows. And raising two children, denied of the opportunity of education, social interaction which is vital to any child’s learning process and access to a doctor, would have been a great responsibility for her as well. This was complete dominion! Again, I cannot find any rationale for evil that some perpetuate against others. As I write this post, I wonder how many more young women are at someone else’s mercy. The thought makes me shudder. I pray that not again shall we hear of evil reports like this. May our good God and Saviour help us and have mercy on us! Amen!!!
Have a great week!
Last Sunday, 19th July, we celebrated the birthday of our church family. Don’t ask me how old we are now, you should have been there! We themed the event “Celebrating God’s goodness and faithfulness” and truly as a church family we have experienced the goodness and faithfulness of our gracious God. A work that began with 2 men, one woman and two infants, we can testify today of so much that the Lord has done since planting this work and since our celebration last year.
Pastor Tony Peters, Senior Pastor, The King’s House, was our guest speaker for the day and boy, we were blessed by the word the Lord gave him to minister to us. Speaking on the topic “Maintaining an attitude of gratitude in the midst of life’s circumstances”, Pastor Tony encouraged the audience that had gathered – members of KGC, friends and family, to be grateful in all things and that God had a way of working with such positive emotions to turn things around quickly for our good. He used the example of Israel in the wilderness in Deuteronomy 8 and other key examples in the Bible to explain that at the end of every challenge or circumstance, God would always bless His people and make every circumstance and challenge they went through work out for their good. Prior to the preaching we had anointed praise and worship by KGC’s choir and some awesome ministration by the Psalmist, Minister Nikki Feriki.
After the service, we had a great reception and as the Lord provided, we had plenty to eat and drink! In all, it was remarkable celebration to testify of the goodness and faithfulness of God to us at KGC. Surely, if it had not been for the Lord on our side…. I cannot dare to imagine what would have been our experience. Finally, a million thanks our friends, family and all that attended this programme, you made our day, thank you for celebrating and rejoicing with us.
Early last week, the world woke up to the news that Air France 447 flight flying from Rio de Janeiro to Paris had disappeared from radar somewhere over the Atlantic sea. Worst fears were confirmed a little later when it became clear that the Air France Airbus A330 had crashed into the Atlantic. A total of 228 people were on board the flight, including 12 crew, a baby and seven children. The passenger list of 216 people included 61 French, 58 Brazilians and 26 Germans, among the 32 nationalities. The crew were all French. Sadly, there are no survivors. It is only now that parts of the crashed plane are being recovered. 16 bodies have been hauled from the Atlantic so far. What caused the Airbus A330 to crash with 228 people on board remains a mystery and the plane’s black box data and voice recorders that would normally hold the key to knowing what went wrong have not yet been found. The loss of lives is tragic and very sad. My heart goes out to the families and friends of the deceased. My thoughts and prayers are with them at this time. Romans 12:15 says “Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep” As the Scriptures rightly puts it, I weep with those mourning the loss of their loved ones and every God fearing person in the world should be.
As the saga of MPs expenses claims rumbles on, the Prime Minister was on the Andrew Marr’s show on BBC1, this morning, suggesting what I think is a spring-clean of the system and the wider public services. The Prime Minister said he planned to introduce a binding “code of conduct” for MPS and warned other public institutions they would also face tougher scrutiny as part of a bid to clean up the system. Looks to me it’s time for a spring-clean! The Prime Minister admitted that there were “clear cases” of MPs who may have broken the law over expense claims but insisted “a few” had abused the system. Responding to further embarrassing revelations of expense claims, including one Labour MP’s bid to get back a £5 church donation from the taxpayer, the PM expressed his shock. Imagine trying to claim a £5 donation to a church from the taxpayer, what kind of a person would do such a thing? Mr Brown said “what I have seen offends my Presbyterian conscience, what I have seen is something that is appalling.” He continued by saying “I did not expect to see instances where there are clear cases which maybe have to be answered to for fraud.” He added that “most MPs are doing a good job. They are in for public service, they are in for what they give not what they can get. But where a few MPs have abused the system they have got to pay back and there has got to be punishment and discipline.” I believe this is the strongest call to date and from the very top of our government for a complete spring-clean of the system. I want to believe that this call is for real and that it would be effected sooner rather than later so that we can put this whole embarrassing situation behind us and move forward as a nation where the electorate have trust and confidence in the elected.
A word for your week ~ 2 Samuel 23:3-4
Beloved, our text this week focuses again on leadership, which I have blogged about on a few occasions. In the above portion of Scripture, King David relates an instruction he got from God specifically about those who rule over others, basically leaders. Three points we see him make here…
- The leader must be Just – an adverb that means fair, impartial, honest, honourable, righteous, moral or truthful. Any leader that attempts to claim a £5 donation to a church from the taxpayer cannot be said to be any of this. I am sure you get what I mean!
- Ruling in the fear of God – In a self-centred world, where ‘I come first’ is an acceptable norm, how can some of today’s leaders not put themselves first before their public duties. So, one can easily claim not only for his second home but also for his duck house! Simply unbelievable!
- Transparent – In the words of the Bible, “And he shall be like the light of the morning when the sun rises, A morning without clouds, Like the tender grass springing out of the earth, By clear shining after rain.’ Transparency, nothing hidden, nothing covered!
Beloved, I am not sure whether you are in a position of authority or not. If are or are aspiring to be, please make sure you embrace these Biblical values and principles. Simple as they may seem, they are guaranteed to see you succeed as a leader and it applies to every level of leadership, public and otherwise. So, take heed to the word of God!!!
As you begin a new week today, I prophesy that…
- For you, this week shall be greater than last week in every dimension!
- You shall come into sudden breakthroughs!
- Every thing you lay your hands to do this week shall prosper!
- Grace and mercy shall accompany you daily!
- No man or devil can withhold that which God has determined is yours!
- You shall not know any harm, hurt or harrassment from the enemy!
- You are blessed and mightily favoured of the Lord!
Have a great week!
I recently stumbled upon the report of a man who asked a prostitute to take his son’s virginity as a birthday present for the 14 year-old. I couldn’t help but think what kind of a father would do such a thing. The report says that the Polish national took the boy out in his car and allowed him to pick the prostitute, who was standing at the side of the road in Nottingham’s red-light district. But the 42-year-old father was arrested after the teenager chose an undercover police officer. He was arrested and prosecuted and was handed a 10-month prison sentence, suspended for a year. What a joke! Although a few weeks old now, I thought it was worth commenting on as this is a terribly bad example of parenting especially fatherhood. Fatherhood – the symbol of integrity, leadership and authority in the home is, in this case, nothing short of mockery. In a world where fathers now solicit prostitutes for their sons to take away their virginity, how can we ever expect to have good family values? What family values can this man ever pass to his son? By this action, I believe he has demonstrated very poor fatherly values and one who has no appreciation for good moral values. In a world where teenage pregnancies and the like are as common as breathing the air, we find a 14 year-old boy who has kept himself. Rather than be happy and applaud his son, this man does the exact opposite. He takes his son from a place of high moral standards, which is so rare in the teenage world today, to the lowest of the low, to a red light district. What kind of father is this? Lord have mercy!!!
A word for your week ~ Ephesians 6:4
Beloved, our text this week says “And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord” God in His word, makes it very clear that the father in the home has the responsibility of training and admonition – rebuke, reprimand or scold, the child or children. Of course the wife will help ensure the training and admonition. This is God’s standard and expectation of fathers. And we have great examples of this in the Bible. We see Abraham in Gen 18:19 God saying that Abraham is one who will command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the LORD, to do righteousness and justice. We also see Job in Job 1:1-5. In summary, Job’s children would party and afterwards Job would send and sanctify them, and he would rise early in the morning and offer burnt offerings according to the number of them all because he said, “It may be that my sons have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.” This Job did regularly. So, we find these two great examples in the Holy Scriptures and as fathers today, we would do well to follow these examples and command our homes after God, to keep the way of the Lord, live righteously and do justice. Not only that, at every opportunity, we must endeavour to celebrate our children and our homes as we see them observe the way of the Lord, live right and do justice and not introduce them to values that are morally bankrupt. As a father of two young children, if I have any nightmares, it is the thought of my children living contrary to what the Bible teaches, for which I pray to God to help me and indeed any father out there who desires to do family by what the Bible teaches. I think I can hear several Amens!
As you begin a new week today, I prophesy that…
- The Lord shall fill your week with joy, rejoicing and laughter!
- The Lord will order and direct your steps to where He has favour waiting for you!
- You shall not miss your moment of breakthrough!
- Increase, abundance and overflow is the sequence in which God will bless your life!
- You are blessed and mightily favoured of the Lord!
Have a great week!
Following my post last week on the MPs expenses claims saga, I thought with one or two more headlines and like most stories we’ve heard in the past, it will blow over and all will be well again. But events that have unfolded have turned my prediction on its head as things seem to have progressed from bad to worse. More damaging allegations and revelations have filled every news channel, electronic and print, last week. We have seen a Minister stepping down, resignations of prominent parliamentary office holders, refunds in excess of one hundred thousand pounds and a cross party group of MPs calling for the resignation of the Speaker of the House of Commons, Michael Martin. msn UK reports that Nick Clegg, Leader of the Liberal Democrats has added his voice to the group saying that Mr Martin had dragged his feet in reforming the system. “He has proved himself over some time now to be a dogged defender of the way things are, the status quo, when what we need, very urgently, is someone at the heart of Westminster who will lead a wholesale radical process of reform,” said Mr Clegg, in a highly unusual intervention for a party leader. He added: “Convention is that political leaders, party leaders, do not talk about the Speaker. My view is that it is exactly that culture of unwritten conventions, unspoken rules and nods and winks that has got us into that trouble in the first place. I have arrived at the conclusion that the Speaker must go.” It really has gone from bad to worse! However, I do agree with Mr Clegg that a wholesale radical process of reform is needed so that we do not have a repeat of this mess sometime in the future. The question is who will lead this radical reform? The public has certainly lost confidence in our MPs and cannot trust them to sort out this mess, so who will? That is the reason I pray again for God to send us someone who will lead the way in this radical reform process, letting integrity rule again and restoring public confidence in our law makers! Amen! Amen!! Amen!!!
A word for your week ~ Proverbs 29:2
Beloved, our text this week says “When the [uncompromisingly] righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when the wicked man rules, the people groan and sigh” (Amp Bible) Our text is so simple yet so powerful in the context of the unfolding saga we are all witnessing. Uncompromising is the key to integrity. When people who will not compromise their integrity, positions or offiices are in authority, the Bible says that the people rejoice. People are happy with their leaders becuase they know that their leaders have the public interest at heart and will not exploit their offices for personal gain and aggrandisement. We desperately need this calibre of people in some quarters in politics and government. I know that there are many honest and hardworking MPs and other leaders in politics and government but in the light of recent events, one cannot but be sceptical and question why many are in politics and government. Leadership is about the people, the followership. The greatest desire of any public leader or body of public leaders is for the people they lead or have authority over to be happy or rejoice as the Bible puts it. The people make the leaders and the people can also break the leaders because without the people or followership there is no leader or leadership. Uncompromising leaders will not and do not take their followers or people for granted and will do their best to represent the people’s interest. I want to believe that in the days ahead that our public leaders in every sphere will fulfill Proverbs 29:2, that the people will rejoice and be glad that they are in authority. It will take integrity though and I pray and hope that those who come forward to lead us will have it in abundance!
Beloved, as you begin a new week today, I prophesy that…
- Your week shall be one of walking in the peace of God and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit!
- Your life shall bring pleasure to God as you let the Holy Spirit lead and guide you!
- People shall be glad and rejoice at the mention of you!
- You shall always be known for good and not evil!
- Your life shall attract the favour of God and man!
- You are blessed and highly favoured!
Have a great week!
