Last week, the media reported on the case of a gang of youths, three of whom are now serving life sentences while others are serving various sentences for the murder of Yasin Abdirahman, an innocent 22 year old Pharmacy student killed because he was mistaken for whoever it is this gang was after. Amongst these youths is Carlos Cyrus who was 12 years old at the time he and members of their gang murdered Mr Abdirahman. A gang member at the age of 12! Shocking! At 12, this boy joins a gang intent on a life of crime and destruction and completely loses focus of the potential and possibility of a life and future that promises success and significance in whatever vocation, profession or career he chooses. But what could push a 12 year old to join a notorious gang like this? Although, I do not have the facts of his background, I think it is a pretty matter that needs addressing at every level. How can we be losing young children to gangs and groups that cannot help them, gangs that can only misguide and mislead them to the wrong tracks of life. Although, Carlos Cyrus, now 14, is serving a 7 year sentence and will still have a chance to rebuild his life, the truth is he has made a very terrible start and this could haunt him for the rest of his life. The question still remains to be answered though, what drove Carlos Cyrus to join this notorious gang at 12? Any ideas?
A word for your week ~ Matt 11:28-30
Beloved, our text this week says “28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” This text is simply awesome because it is actually the words of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ throwing an open invitation to all and sundry. Where are you in life? What has been your experience? Whatever it is, do not end up in the wrong company or gang. There are all kinds of groups, societies and clubs offering friendship, support and to be there for you when you need them. But the truth is, none of them can give you what you really need which is rest! But Jesus can! Carlos Cyrus joined a gang that have helped land him in prison, on the wrong track of life. I am sure this gang offered him something. Whatever it is they offered him, I am sure you’d agree that it has not done him any good. But Jesus on the other hand is promising you a relationship and friendship that will not be a burden on you, where you will learn from Him – the Author of life, and find rest for your soul. Boy, how we all need that rest. I have found that rest in Him and true to His word, His burden is light and His yoke is easy. The yoke of gangs like the one Carlos Cyrus joined is not easy, ask him, he’s in prison. Jesus’ yoke will actually free you from other yokes that the enemy want you in, only in Christ do we really find true freedom and rest. If you haven’t already, my prayer is that you will find that freedom and rest in Jesus Christ! Praise the Lord!!!
Beloved, as you begin a new week today and a new month later in the week, I prophesy that…
- The Lord shall order your steps with new graces and new mercies each day of the new week and the new month!
- The new month is the fifth month of the year, 5 is the number of grace. May you come into unprecedented graces this week and the rest of the new month!
- No other yoke shall be able to overthrow the yoke between you and the Lord!
- As you have found rest in the Lord, nothing shall by any means disturb or trouble you!
- You are blessed and highly favoured of the Lord!
Have a great week!
Last week the Prime Minister finally apologised for emails smearing opponents in the Conservative party saying that he took “full responsibility” for the very embarrassing situation he and the Labour party found themselves in. But what exactly happened? The Prime Minister’s former adviser, Damian McBride, had written several emails to close colleagues suggesting fabricated stories about certain members of the Conservative party including David Cameron, who Mr McBride had suggested was suffering from an embarrassing illness and MP Nadine Dorries, falsely accused of a one-night stand. All this from the very heart of government! A smear or dirty tricks campaign to discredit the opposition. Lying about the opposition and lying to the public that it is supposed to be serving. Whatever happened to integrity? Whatever happened to integrity? I thought as public servants the expectation was to serve with honesty and integrity to the best of their abilities? Surely, something has gone wrong somewhere. Boy, we need a return to free and fair politics based on good old values like integrity, honesty and truthfulness. And a quick return I should add!
A word for your week ~ Matt 6:33
Beloved, our text this week says “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” While the governments and politics of the world maybe ingrained in dirty tricks and smear campaigns of all sorts, the kingdom of God is founded on integrity and righteousness. God’s kingdom under His sovereign rule demands honesty, truthfulness and simply put integrity. Seek first the kingdom of God and His rightoeousness our text teaches us. The kingdom of God cannot be separated from God’s righteousness, they go hand-in-hand. The fact that one is in the kingdom means that they have and are walking in the righteousness of Almighty God. This God kind of righteousness lives and demonstrates integrity that is so lacking in the world today. The governments and politics of the world would benefit by looking at how God operates His kingdom as I am sure they will learn a thing or two from Him. In truth, the Bible also teaches, in Proverbs 14:34, that “Righteousness exalts a nation, But sin is a reproach to any people.” It cannot be any clearer than that, can it? Rigtheousness or honesty or truthfulness or integrity will exalt a nation, like ours, but sin, in the form of dirty tricks and smear campaigns, is a reproach, something disgraceful and shameful. Isn’t that why the Prime Minister have had to apologise? But I thank God that He has high standards and values for us and we will never be put to shame or reproach. I do pray that leaders in politics and governments around the world will look to God to develop rightousness and integrity in their nations.
As you begin a new week today, I prophesy that…
- Your week shall be led, guided and directed by Holy Spirit!
- You shall have a faith-filled week of kingdom exploits!
- As you submit to the authority of the kingdon of God, righteousness and integrity shall be the order of your life!
- Your integrity shall be your defence and open doors for you!
- Blessed and higly favoured shall your days be on the earth!
Have a great week!
Easter has come and is almost gone. Another weekend beginning with Good Friday when the Good Shepherd was crucified on that cross at Calvary for sins He did not commit. Dead as any dead could be, the Father raised Him up on the third day, Easter Sunday. He who was dead now lives by the power of God forever having defeated death and Satan and so is able to give life to all who come to God through Him. Although it has become an annual celebration around the world, there is actually no Biblically historical evidence to support this annual celebration. As far as I know the early church in the Acts of Apostles did not have an annual Christian celebration of Easter. Regardless, I am grateful to God that the nations of the world would at least stop for a few days to honour the death and resurrection of our soon coming King, Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ! However, the irony still remains that while many around the world celebrate Easter in memory of Jesus Christ, they still largely reject Him as their Lord and Saviour. Celebrating Easter in honour of a Saviour you will not accept does not make sense. I believe celebrating Easter is proof-positive that Jesus is who He claims to be and that should bring anyone to their knees before Him. I have and so have countless others around the world and I hope you too. If not, I am sure you know what to do, do not celebrate Easter without Him, the reason for the Easter! Make Him the centre of your Easter!
A word for your week ~ 1 Cor 15:12-23
Beloved, our text this week is taken from the Apostle Paul’s first letter to the Corinthian church. This portion of his letter challenges certain thinking that tended to compromise the resurrection of Christ. Valid then and now, the Christain faith hinges on this foundational truth that Jesus rose from the dead. If He did not, then let’s see what the implications are for the Believer:
- Christian gospel preaching is empty and faith based on it is also empty – verse 14
- Every Christian witness is false – verse 15
- As the dead do not rise, Christ is not risen and faith in Him is futile – verses 16 and 17
- Christians are still in their sins – verse 17
- Those Christians that have died as Christians have simply perished – verse 18
- Christians should be pitied for their faith in an unresurrected Christ and in losing out on the pleasures of the world because of their faith – verse 19
My friend, the above is just unthinkable! Look again at the implications, God forbid! I am glad to note that verses 20-23 says that “20 But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21 For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. 23 But each one in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, afterward those who are Christ’s at His coming.” Glory to God, Christ is risen from the dead and so are we who believe on Him! Really, without the resurrection of Christ from the dead, we have no faith, no hope, no eternal life, etc. But as Christ rose from the dead, we have a faith that works and can move mountains, we have a living hope and eternal life. He is risen to newness of life and so have we who believe in Him. He is risen and so are you!!!
As you begin a new week today, I prophesy that…
- Your week shall be one of walking in the ease and comfort of God!
- God shall give you grace and glory and no good thing will He withold from you!
- You will experience resurrection in every area of your life that the devil maybe challenging you!
- As He rose from the dead so shall you rise from your dead issues and situations!
- As the grave could not hold Him, so shall no dead location or relationship able to hold or stop you from fulfilling your destiny!
- You are blessed and raised up in Christ!
Have a great week!
Last week our news media reported on the failed attempt by the singer and popstar Madonna to adopt a second from an orphanage in Malawi. Unlike 2006 when she was able to adopt David, the first child, this time she couldn’t adopt Mercy as she was ruled not to have met Malawi’s strict residency rules as she had not lived in the country for up to 18 to 24 months. The ruling not to allow Madonna adopt a second child, Mercy, have both been hailed as sending a clear message that no one should be allowed to bend the rules of adoption and that strict guidelines should be imposed and followed as young and innocent lives were at stake. On the other hand, people have criticised the decision as denying young Mercy the chance in a life time for a better life. An opportunity that not many will have and this camp have concluded that it is not Madoona that have lost but young Mercy. Looking at both sides of the arguement, there is some sense and logic from either side. In my view, however, the interest of the child should be the top priority and focus in this arguement. What is best for the child? And that is what and how Almighty God treats us! What is best for us! God will not give you anything just because you want it, do you really need it? It is in your best interest that God acts and I hope and pray that this decision made to the Malawian court is in the best interest of Mercy. Praise God!
A word for your week ~ Rom 8:15
Beloved, our text this week says “For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father”. For the Believer, we have all been adopted by God into His great and glorious family. The church on the earth is God’s family, His adopted sons and daughters on the earth. Ephesians 1:5 says “having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will”. We were pre-destined to be adopted by God through Jesus Christ. Galatians 4:4-6 says “4 But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. 6 And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!” So you see beloved, everything we have is because the Holy Father has adopted us through His Son, Jesus Christ! Isn’t that wonderful? Adoption is good, remarkably good, without it no believer would be saved or be in God’s family. Thank you Jesus! Like millions of people around the world, I have been adopted and by His Spirit I can and do cry out “Abba Father!” What about you? If you cannot, then, the Holy Father is waiting for you, arms wide open to receive you just as you are as a son or a daughter, to adopt you into His glorious family. He does not need to satisfy any residency laws, for the earth is the Lord’s and all its fullness, the world and they dwell therein – Psalm 24:1. Hurry your adoption is waiting! Bless His name forever!!!
As you begin a new week today, I prophesy that …
- Your week shall be stress-free, trouble-free and the devil shall have no part to play in all that you do!
- You shall rise high above every challenge, run through any troop marching against you and leap over any wall of obstacle!
- As you set you mind and heart on the Lord, may He overwhelm you with great peace and confidence!
- Nothing shall be able to deter you from fulfilling God’s plan and purposes for your life!
- God will continually cover you with His glory and honour!
- You are blessed and mightily favoured of the Lord and so shall you always be all your days on the earth!
Have a great week!
