Last week our news media reported on the failed attempt by the singer and popstar Madonna to adopt a second from an orphanage in Malawi. Unlike 2006 when she was able to adopt David, the first child, this time she couldn’t adopt Mercy as she was ruled not to have met Malawi’s strict residency rules as she had not lived in the country for up to 18 to 24 months. The ruling not to allow Madonna adopt a second child, Mercy, have both been hailed as sending a clear message that no one should be allowed to bend the rules of adoption and that strict guidelines should be imposed and followed as young and innocent lives were at stake. On the other hand, people have criticised the decision as denying young Mercy the chance in a life time for a better life. An opportunity that not many will have and this camp have concluded that it is not Madoona that have lost but young Mercy. Looking at both sides of the arguement, there is some sense and logic from either side. In my view, however, the interest of the child should be the top priority and focus in this arguement. What is best for the child? And that is what and how Almighty God treats us! What is best for us! God will not give you anything just because you want it, do you really need it? It is in your best interest that God acts and I hope and pray that this decision made to the Malawian court is in the best interest of Mercy. Praise God!
A word for your week ~ Rom 8:15
Beloved, our text this week says “For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father”. For the Believer, we have all been adopted by God into His great and glorious family. The church on the earth is God’s family, His adopted sons and daughters on the earth. Ephesians 1:5 says “having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will”. We were pre-destined to be adopted by God through Jesus Christ. Galatians 4:4-6 says “4 But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. 6 And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!” So you see beloved, everything we have is because the Holy Father has adopted us through His Son, Jesus Christ! Isn’t that wonderful? Adoption is good, remarkably good, without it no believer would be saved or be in God’s family. Thank you Jesus! Like millions of people around the world, I have been adopted and by His Spirit I can and do cry out “Abba Father!” What about you? If you cannot, then, the Holy Father is waiting for you, arms wide open to receive you just as you are as a son or a daughter, to adopt you into His glorious family. He does not need to satisfy any residency laws, for the earth is the Lord’s and all its fullness, the world and they dwell therein – Psalm 24:1. Hurry your adoption is waiting! Bless His name forever!!!
As you begin a new week today, I prophesy that …
- Your week shall be stress-free, trouble-free and the devil shall have no part to play in all that you do!
- You shall rise high above every challenge, run through any troop marching against you and leap over any wall of obstacle!
- As you set you mind and heart on the Lord, may He overwhelm you with great peace and confidence!
- Nothing shall be able to deter you from fulfilling God’s plan and purposes for your life!
- God will continually cover you with His glory and honour!
- You are blessed and mightily favoured of the Lord and so shall you always be all your days on the earth!
Have a great week!
